The Alfresco™ Swarm Interface, developed by XeniT, is available as open source at Alfresco Forge, which replaces the traditional file-system based document store of Alfresco. All content such as business documents and records are stored in Swarm. Alfresco is the leading open source alternative for enterprise content management. It couples the innovation of open source with the stability of a true enterprise-class platform. The open source model allows Alfresco to use best-of-breed open source technologies and contributions from the open source community to get higher quality software produced more quickly at much lower cost.
Content Repository Interface for Alfresco™
The integration enables documents to simply be stored in, and retrieved from Swarm using the standard Alfresco interfaces. In its initial implementation, the Alfresco Swarm Interface supports the usage of Swarm as an Alfresco content repository and an archive for storing and retaining regulated and immutable documents/content over the long-term.
XeniT created the Alfresco Swarm Interface to address requirements from its clients. The combined solution is currently implemented at one of the largest companies in the insurance sector in Belgium. The company started using Alfresco-Caringo solution to manage and store 4.5 million documents and has reached 11 million documents. The company is efficiently scanning and storing between 15,000 to 40,000 pages per day with an average of 200,000 documents per month and growing. The interface was submitted as open source to Alfresco Forge and XeniT will continue to provide on-going support.
XeniT is a solution provider focusing on the ECM/WCM market and takes a distinct position by focusing on its partnership with Alfresco, the leading open source alternative for ECM/WCM solutions. "Making documents smarter" is the company’s credo and it is committed to maximizing reusability, better search capabilities, guiding document processes and records management leading to a better use of time and resources.
Texas Tech University System improves storage infrastructure TCA and TCO by adopting Caringo Swarm. With more than 50,000 end users throughout 200 departments, Texas Tech students, researchers, professors and others were sharing an IT infrastructure that was built out of a front-end file virtualization platform and a back end of multiple arrays with different characteristics. By migrating its primary storage environment to Caringo Swarm, Texas Tech was able to achieve the best total cost of acquisition while greatly improving the storage total cost of ownership and making the infrastructure future ready.
