Without doubt, the yearly Supercomputing Conference (SC) is one of the events we look forward to every November. This year, it was held once again in Denver, the Mile High City. It is interesting that the same year Caringo was founded, 2005, the iconic 40-foot-high bear (created by artist Lawrence Argent) was installed to peer into the Denver Convention Center, bringing a smile to the face of old and young alike.
While in Denver, our crew has thrived on the bustling downtown energy, amazing local foods, craft beer and cocktails. We had a terrific time meeting attendees at the show, and also used this as an opportunity to catch up with our valued partners.
FileCatalyst File Transfer Technology
I had the pleasure of interviewing FileCatalyst President & Co-Founder John Tkaczewski at SC19. He reminded me that it was at SC16 in Salt Lake City, Utah that FileCatalyst and Caringo first connected. Less than 5 months later, we announced the FileCatalyst + Caringo solution. In this interview, John and I discussed how FileCatalyst File Transfer Technology won an Emmy, and how Caringo Swarm Object Storage complements FileCatalyst technology. Together, FileCatalyst and Caringo provide a solution for quickly transferring large amounts of data into a limitless and durable storage cluster. This joint solution is quite valuable not only in the world of high-performance computing (HPC), but in the Media & Entertainment (M&E) use cases.
Globus, a University of Chicago Non-Profit Service
Globus Head of Product Rachana Ananthakrishnan sat down at SC19 to discuss the Globus service for secure, reliable research data management that allows subscribers to move, share and discover data via a single interface. Ms. Ananthakrishnan elaborated on Globus’s partnership with Caringo, one of the first Object Storage Solutions to certify for use with Globus.
