BonCasa, a Straatman Consultancy venture and a valued member of the CaringoConnect Developer program, has created the Shortcutter application that runs on Windows and integrates with CAStor content storage. Shortcutter is a Windows HSM (hierarchical storage management) application that is currently in beta, which enables users or administrators to move aged or rarely used files from their local systems to an archive. The beta version is storing files to an online CAStor cluster and leaves a stub in the local file system so it can be retrieved later. Shortcutter is well suited for small office environments that want to backup or archive data sets to an affordable storage infrastructure and free up local disk capacity for new file content. For larger environments, Shortcutter can be used in scheduled command line mode.
