CloudFolder™ 1.1 Features
Archive and protect important files right from the desktop
CloudFolder, powered by StorScape, provides convenient desktop access to a CAStor storage cluster deployed within an organization or on the Internet. End-users can easily archive files to a remote CAStor storage cluster either by dragging and dropping or copying them into the designated CloudFolder. It ensures important files are preserved and protected as well as reduces storage consumption on the local disk by storing files to a CAStor cluster.

New Configurable Storage Settings in 1.1
Archive Interval
Set the time interval for the automatic archiving of files from the CloudFolder to the storage cluster. Files are automatically archived every 4 hours by default. A backup manifest of all file metadata is also created and saved in the cluster with each automatic archive.
Protection Level
The protection level changes the protection level of each file in the target cluster by changing the number of stored file replicas. Protection level changes do not retroactively apply to previously archived files.
Log Level
The configured log level determines the granularity of log messages included
in the log file. Debug may be useful when troubleshooting an issue but will
also consume log file space more quickly.
Target Cluster
The target cluster option changes the storage cluster where files are archived. All files will be recalled from the currently configured cluster prior to changing to a new cluster.
Migration Policy
Configure the number of days a local file copy is kept
while also protected in the target cluster. It means it is kept on the local hard drive like a normal file system - so for the configured number of days it is not a stub. It is the full file content so it is accessible if you're not connected to your cluster.
Feature Hilights
Disaster Recovery Feature
Metadata for all files stored in CloudFolder is automatically backed up to CAStor. A file key is created during the initial installation, which is used to recover the files stored in CloudFolder in the event a client system is damaged or fails.
Active Directory Support
For enterprise environments, CloudFolder supports Active Directory allowing a user to login to a different system and recover their CloudFolder content to the new system. The file key is stored in the user’s Active Directory profile and can follow the user if roamed profiles are enabled.
Activity Log
An Activity Log keeps track of the beginning and end times for all archive and restore operations. CloudFolder supports basic capacity reporting for both the remote CAStor storage and the local file system. Capacity and log reports are accessed from the cloud icon in the system tray.

Archiving and Restoring Feature
Files and folders in CloudFolder are automatically stored to CAStor every 4 hours by default. The archive interval settigs can be reset as needed. Archiving an individual file, group of files or entire folder tree can also be performed with a right-click menu option. A stub remains in the folder keeping the file name intact, but the actual file is moved to storage. To restore a file, group of files or folder tree, right-click on the selected item(s) and click 'Restore item(s)' from the pop-up menu or simple double-click on an individual file.
