CAStor™ Content File Server

Standard Features

  • Fully Integrated with CAStor. CAStor Content File Server is a drop-in addition to CAStor storage clusters.
  • Industry standard file access protocols. Built on FUSE, CAStor CFS is Linux file system. It supports standard file protocols to interface to CAStor content storage clusters to deliver high performance, scalable and reliable storage. This includes support for NFS, CIFS, Mac, Linux, WebDAV and FTP protocols. CAStor CFS combined with CAStor is specifically designed to efficiently store active file-based data with all the functionality required for long-term archiving and compliance.
  • File level permissions or ACL's. CAStor CFS supports file-level read, write and execute permissions for users and groups. Both Active Directory and Access Control Lists (ACLs) are fully supported. This enables highly-flexible permissions models and allows fine-grained access control.
  • Configuration wizard. CAStor CFS is installed with a self-extracting script and configured with an easy-to-follow wizard. Setup namespace, configure logging, and connect to a CAStor cluster. The CFS configuration wizard can be run multiple times for multiple shares.
  • Namespace. The namespace is responsible for maintaining and mapping file system metadata to the objects stored in CAStor.
  • Cluster CFS nodes for added performance. CAStor CFS file system scales by clustering additional CFS servers for performance across common namespace and storage.

Advanced Features

  • Timescape (continuous snapshots). Enables administrators to mount and view the contents of a file system at a particular point in time and restore files and/or folders mistakenly deleted or overwritten.
  • Metadata settings defined at the mount-point level. Define policies such as number of file replicas and file retention policies for regulatory compliance in the files metadata.
  • Set file replication and intelligent distribution policies. Add custom metadata elements and define their corresponding storage, replication and distribution policies to better manage content lifecycles. Replication and intelligent distribution policies are carried out by the CAStor Content Router.
  • CFS namespace automatically backed up to CAStor storage. The CFS namespace containing file identifiers and metadata is replicated for recovery and archived for backup all in the same CAStor storage cluster.
