Offered as an-add to the Object Storage Platform powered by CAStor, the Indexer adds real-time indexing and the ability to perform ad-hoc searches of content within CAStor by name or metadata. The Indexer enhances the CAStor API adding the ability to perform granular searches and can be accessed directly or through the included Indexer Portal, a web-based application that provides instant, graphical insight and control over content stored in a CAStor cluster.
Scale-out Indexing with High Availability
The Indexer can be deployed as a virtual machine or on dedicated hardware and be scaled-out depending upon performance, capacity, and availability needs. High availability is automatically in place as soon as two or more Indexer servers are deployed.
New Views of Data Driven by Versatile Search Results
Command line search results are returned in JSON or XML for importing and analysis by a wide range of 3rd party applications including Big Data, Business Intelligence and Data Analytics packages.
Instant Insight and Control through Indexer Portal
Indexer Portal is an optional application that runs as a virtual machine and works seamlessly with Indexer and CAStor to provide instant insight and control over domains, buckets and content.
The Indexer Portal provides a web-based user interface for:
- Running searches on meta data and file attributes (name, size and type)
- Viewing storage used by the cluster, domains or buckets
- Managing domains and buckets (create, delete, and edit)
- Managing metadata (add and edit tags)
Simple Content Management
The Indexer Portal also includes a streamlined method for managing content in domains and buckets offering integrate upload, download and sharing functionality.
Seamless Integration with Cloud Storage via Caringo CloudScaler™
The Indexer also works seamlessly with Caringo CloudScaler extending the functionality in Indexer Portal by adding enhanced authentication, authorization, metering and quotas to provide everything needed to deliver a cloud storage service.
