Standard file system protocol transfer to Caringo® CAStor®
Content File Server (CFS) provides a standard file system interface to the massively scalable Caringo object storage platform powered by CAStor. CFS installs on a standard x86 Linux server turning it into an appliance that serves as a mount point to CAStor for any application or device utilizing standard file system protocols for content transfer – CIFS, NFS, FTP, and WebDAV.

Highly Scalable for Large Datasets
CFS is the only file system in the world where performance does not degrade with file count. In addition since CAStor automatically handles system optimization so your old data will never get in the way of the new.
Access to Any Version of a File with Continuous Data Protection
CFS includes integrated continuous data protection and point in time recovery functionality called Timescapes. Timescapes go beyond basic snapshot functionality and capture every transaction written to the mount point. That means you can roll back to any point in time to recover folders or even a specific file. You can specify how long in time you would like to keep your files and directory structure based on your business and operational requirements.
Automated Data Life Cycle Management via Customizable Metadata and CAStor
Metadata attributes can be set to specify the lifecycle of files, replication counts and retention policies per each mounted volume. The file history can be viewed and extracted as an image set and moved to another tier of storage for automated lifecycle management.
Minimal impact to current operations
CAStor CFS adds the flexibility of a wide range of industry standard file access methods for minimal impact to your current operations. Windows, Linux and Mac users can all use CIFS, NFS, WebDAV and FTP over HTTP to get direct access to a CAStor cluster.
Enables compliance for archive retention
CFS supports write once and read many (WORM) data protection capabilities by enforcing a simple metadata policy at the mount point level. The CFS metadata policies work seamlessly in concert with Content Router for replication and intelligent distribution for deployment of a DR strategy and enable customers to meet regulatory compliance requirements.
Simple installation and management
CFS installs with a simple wizard to setup, configure shares and connect to a CAStor cluster. All file system metadata is stored in CAStor and a single namespace is responsible for maintaining and mapping file system metadata.
Enterprise class security
To meet the most demanding security requirements, CFS seamlessly integrates Active Directory (AD) and Access Control List (ACL) providing a highly flexible permissions models that facilitates a high level of access control protection. File-level read, write and execute permissions for users and groups are supported.
