Q: How does CAStor work without proprietary hardware?
A: The highly-optimized CAStor system ships on a USB memory key. Simply plug the key into off-the-shelf hardware, and CAStor will automatically verify and correctly configure the hardware, boot the node, attach to the network and start participating in cluster activity. CAStor is based on a tuned standard Linux distribution — the broadest possible range of commodity hardware is automatically supported. True self-certification is a standard feature of CAStor.

Commodity hardware means more than 'PC based.' It means you can immediately leverage new hardware advances — regardless of vendor and without waiting for 'certification.'
